auto trans C6 vs. FMX vs. C4
I pulled a 351w and auto trans from a 76 Cougar. I always thought it was a C4. I had the torque converter reworked to get some stall, but never ran it. Recently, I gave the trans to a friend. He said, the shop told him it was a FX, and would be difficult to mate with a late 5.0. I'm assuming he meant a FMX. Now, its back on the floor of my garage. After a year, the 351w now has several mods. Could some one give me comments on C6 vs FMX for performance and durability on a weekend driver.

I have the FMX and the major drawback is weight and this transmission is harder to setup correctly when rebuilt. I like the durability of mine but if I had to change it I would go with a C4 or AOD, the C6 is hard to find and expensive to rebuild.

I would go with the C4. They are very lightweight and are strong enough for applications up to about 400 hp. Very good for quick accelerations around town... http://www.mustangworks.com/interact...board/cool.gif

Dark, usually that happens after someone rebuilds it that doesn't know what there doing. It's hard to find anyone that has alot of experience with these beasts, but mine has over 110k and still barks the tires in second http://www.mustangworks.com/interact...rd/biggrin.gif
