Pics of new Torq Thrust II's on car!
 

Hello,

I've got a couple pictures of the new rims on my 66'.
They are the 17" TT 2's the tires are 235/45/17, the
offset is 4 3/4. They have not rubbed yet and the fenders
are not rolled. The car is lowered with negative wedge kit
and 620's.

Looks great. Sounds like you've got your suspension set up like mine. Those 45's sure look short on the sidewalls....how's the ride?

The ride is firm! The 45 series tires removed the bounce that the car had. It
REALLY sticks on the turns. It's like a go-kart.

Bill, the rims & tires look great. Could answer a few questions for me? I went to your site, but could not find these answers.
You said you had 620 front springs. I am assuming approx 1" drop?
Is the rear lowered at all?
Do the tires rub in heavy cornering (if you've tested that yet http://www.mustangworks.com/interact...oard/smile.gif )?
I have 15" Torqthrust D's with 225/50-15 and would like to go to the 17's, but I autocross and do some canyon driving so I would like to know from someone who has em if they rub

The front is lowered with 1" drop spring and
the lowered upper control arms. The back is stock height. I plan on lowering the back
around 1". The tires do not rub during
fast cornering. I it really good
testing... The rear tires could go wider
if the offset was farther in. There is alot of room on the inside of the tires. If I had
to do it over i would get some custom ofset
rear rims with 5" offset. You could probably
fit 224 or bigger in the rear.

How do you like the autocrossing? I plan on
doing the same thing when the cars complete.
Mybe a little open tracking also.

Thanks for the info, especially the offset (I will keep it in mind when I get the new rims). Sounds like we are set up pretty close suspension wise. You said you were going to lower the rear, do you forsee any rubbing issues ? or the need to roll the fenders? I'm lowered 1" in the rear with mid-eye 5 leafs, but I put in a Currie 9" which cut down on some of that lowering.
I love autocrossing, especially with what LOOKS to be an old car. The only down side is that most tracks are set up for munchin cars (Miatas, Neons, etc). Are you running 4 wheel discs or drums in the rear ? Are you running power brakes ? Best purchase I ever made was the power set up from Trans-Am Racing - looks great and stops awesome.

In a 66 coupe

I may have to roll the lip if i drop the rear! It is close... I have 12" front disks
with Cobra (PBR) calipers, and stock rear drums (non-power).

Those autocross tracks do look a little tight
with a big V8, no room to let er run. Have
you tried the open track events? I'm dieing
to tear around Laguna Seca raceway!!!!

I haven't tried any REAL open track events. I did attend an autocross at the CHP proving grounds which is like a small track with tight turns, bank turns, & s turns. It was a blast. Laguna Seca would be a total rush. Might even be enough for me to scare myself with http://www.mustangworks.com/interact...oard/smile.gif I do some canyon running (mainly with my vette buddies), but in So. Cal there's not alot of "Smart" places to do it (Too many people !) Let me know if you ever tackle Laguna Seca.
