Anyboby out there have experience with...

Total Control rack-and-pinion bolt on for vintage mustangs? I need a new steering box and I am considering an upgrade to the total control system. Any info would be great. I have also heard a company called Steeroids is working on a kit but its yet to be released.

Don't know anyone who has tried one but I sure would like to!

I don't know anybody with one, sorry. I think that was what they used on the 65 fastback on horsepower TV. Its hard to tell from TV, but it was a good looking piece of equipment. Made me want one. They also made it look pretty easy to install (as usual).

If the install sounds like more that you want to tackle, you might want to concider a new Flaming River box.

I put one in my '68 and it made a huge difference. The car steers like new and it was very easy to install.

I spoke with Total Control today and they quoted me $1,100 for a manual rack and pinion set up, and $1,600 for a power setup. Sounds like a lot but the way I look at it is I have to spend $500 anyway on a gear box so the actual cost is only $600 for a system that is not only better than stock but much lighter. I am guessing I will save around 40-50 pounds with the manual setup
