4 lug to 5 lug swap

About to get a 66 six cylinder. I would like to put on Styled Steel Wheels, but they're only avalible with the 5 lug pattern. Anyone know what company would have a kit for this swap? Price? Thanks alot.

I think you have to totally switch out the axles to get the five lugs just like if you were switching to disc brakes. If you are wanting the original "style" styled steel wheels there's a company that makes hubcaps that fit on the 4 lug rims. This may sound stupid at first, but they are extremely cheap compared to the full styled rims, look the same, and you can pop them off for bad weather. I think MustangsUnlimited sells them or it might be NPD. Virginia Classic Mustang has a set of 4 for $189.95 center caps included. Their phone # is 540-896-2695.

These might be an option for you. Hope it helps a bit.

Good luck!

Switching from 4lug to 5 lug isn't too hard. The cheapest way to do it is to find a V8 parts car. You will need the front spindles, backing plates, and brake parts. This would be a good time to replace the ball joints. If I remember right the tie rod ends will still fit. For the back, swap out the whole rear end. If you have any questions, you are welcome to email me.

In addition to the front spindles you will also need the V-8 steering linkage, cause your 6 cyl linkage will be to small. I did the same thing to my 66, but i went with a disc brake conversion from California Mustangs, which comes with your new spindles, look for a parted out 8 car for your rearend, our your local stang shop should know a good place used parts. Stay away from versi rears, cause it will cost you an arm and a leg to rebuild.
