A/C Problem

I have a '67 coupe with factory air. A while back the clutch on the front of the A/C compressor started making a lot of noise even when the A/C was not engaged. Well, I ordered a rebuilt clutch from Classic Auto Air and installed it. Initially everything sounded fine but the second time I engaged the A/C the clutch started making an awful racket and the center part of the clutch got so hot I could not touch it. It seems to me that I either got a faulty clutch (bearings?)or something is wrong with the compressor. Any ideas? E.

Do you have have 12 volts to clutch?? If the second clutch is doing the same thing. I would first check the electric magnet, but it is probably the compressor is going bad and it is forcing the clutch to slip.
