'66 289 HP & RPM

Hey, does anyone know the HP/Torque for a 1966 289 with factory 2 barrel carb? What is it's redline RPM?
Lastly does anyone know if I replace the stock carb and intake with edelbrok carb and intake, will I have more or less hood clearance?

Okay, lets get the cob webs out of my head here and see what I can do.

1966 289 Two barrel, "C" code I presume (Code for factory 289 two barrel) put out 200 HP at 4400 RPM 282 ft-lbs of torque at 2400 RPM.

You might run into some clearence probs if your using the Performer RPM Manifold with the origianl carb along with the Carb spacer that has the PCV nozzle on it. I had that problem.

Does your car have single exhaust or dual? You might want to think about converting over to duals.
Oh, I'm not sure of the redline, but I wouldnt really want to tach up a stock 289 much past 5 grand. Although, in stock form, they stop building power way before then. Mine on the other hand http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/biggrin.gif has seen duty up to 6 grand on a few occasions.

Well, actually I plan on putting on a performer rpm intake and an edelbrok 600cfm carb (4 barrel). That's with out a spacer.
I wasn't sure if the new intake and carb (with out carb spacer) would be taller than the old factory stuff (including carb spacer). Also, I do have dual exhaust and headers. The pipes currently end right after the mufflers http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/frown.gif I need to fix that.

For what it's worth, those HP and torque numbers are gross numbers that were used before 1970-71. Net figures are about 80% of those. These a are all flywheel figures. That means 160 hp for the C code at the flywheel net, and only about 120 RW for a C-4 or 133 RW for a standard 3 or 4 speed.
