Question about 68 Kick down linkage
Ok all of you V8 auto owners I need some help. I have a 68 289 Auto Coupe. I replaced the kick down cable but the end that connects to the throttle was help on my wire ties. The book says it uses a clip to hole it but there is no grove in the pin or hole to hold it on. I can seem to fine anything on this but I want to make it correct. Can anyone tell me what "clip" holds it to the pin and where I can get one? I hated putting wire ties back on it.

Re: Question about 68 Kick down linkage
The clip is a linkage clip that Ford used on many applications through the years.
It has a round washer type end that fits over the part that fits in the hole. Then the other end of the clip has two clamps that clamp on the rod itself. Kind of hard to explain. Sorry.... |
Re: Question about 68 Kick down linkage
You can actually get those clips at AutoZone. I know because I lost one and that's where I got a new one.

Re: Question about 68 Kick down linkage
Lots of good small parts like that in the HELP line, just look at the pieces and find what will work. Look at all the other stuff too, because it may be just the fix for something else down the road!

Re: Question about 68 Kick down linkage
speaking of linkage, can I use the same kick down linkage on my 289 2 bbl when I convert to a 4 bbl Autolie 4100 (using Ford OEM 4 bbl manifold)?

Re: Question about 68 Kick down linkage
I think so. I just converted my '67 302 from the original 2-barrel to an Edelbrock 4-barrel and I am using the same linkage. E.
