Post Rack & Pinion Steering in a 67'

I'm trying to find out what type of things I would need to install a manual rack and pinion steering in my 67' fastback..I know there are kits out there for this type of conversion but I think that the price is a little on the high end for a some tubular metals welded together..therefore I'm wondering if anyone out there has done this and what they had to use.
