Exclamation Electronic Enlightenment Needed

I don't know much about the electronic workings of the late model fox mustangs (87-93). Does anyone know of books or sites where may be substansially versed in this subject? Or if you would like to answer some of my questions that would be greatly appreciated: What are piggy back systems like the PMS, what do they do and are they carb or efi specific? What do chips accomplish? Where is the electronic "brain" located because i have heard of people just replacing the whole thing? Plenty Thanks!!!
