![]() I am in the process of having my car painted and need to do something about the bumpers. They are pretty straight with no dents but are also very pitted and scrapped up.
I checked into chome plating and it is around $200 a bumper. The "new" re-manufactured ones are around $90. Has anyone gone either of these routes and have any opinions one way or the other. ------------------ '68 convert, 289, C-4, Edelbrock Performer package, Tri-Y headers, 3.25 rear gears |

![]() Can't vouch for the re-chromes, but I bet it depends on who does it. My $85 Nordans ('66) are at least good. Can't say perfect, but nothing's peeled or anything in 2 yrs. Of course, I'm not in the show car arena either. They did fit well though. Hope this helps a little.

![]() Thanks Rev,
I went the re-manufacture route along with new door handles and fender cap seals. My baby should look brand new when I get it back. ------------------ '68 convert, 289, C-4, Edelbrock Performer package, Tri-Y headers, 3.25 rear gears |

![]() I would rechrome my factory bumpers, if they are good. That's what I did. The quality of the bumper, minus chrome, is usually better.
Just find a good rechromer, like Paul's Chrome in PA. Does a first class job. I have sent many parts to him [68 Mustang, 49 Chris Craft boat, barber Chair] |
