If you're talking about the rear main seal you dont have to pull engine just the trans. and then the flywheel(stick)-flex plate(a/t) if I remember it is one piece seal and should pop out and put new one in. I would also check the teeth on the flywheel/flexplate if they're are chewed up replace it then so you dont have to go there again. I would also check to see if the front pump seal on the trans. is maybe leaking too. Now with the overheating replace the thermostat about $25. at max and I would put a electric fan on the front on the radiator so if the needle goes up flip a switch and watch needle go down. Just hook it on a separate switch so you can turn it on anytime you want. I do it with mine and when it gets hot I flip the switch to cool it down.
