![]() I just have bought World products 351w assembled heads to replace the stock heads on my 69 302 block. I have not had to do this type of rebuild before and don't want to mess it up. I have the bolts for the build, gaskets, and am going to buy new rods, roller rockers, and possibly a new manifold. This is my set up, a rebuilt block with around 3000 miles on it. The piston walls are fairly clean, except for dust. I have msd, a stock cam, and a 600 holley. The tranny is a c-4 with a b&m kit as well as a 2500 stahl. I am running stock gears in the back. I have an Eldenbrock RPM manifold. The shop where I bought the heads suggested that I take off the rpm manifold, and just go with the proformer manifold. I am also going to buy a new set of headers. These are involved questions, but please help me out. 1 For power what is the answer with headers and the manifold?
2 I have access to all tools, but what is important in the rebuilt, having not done this type before? 3 what would help my set-up? Since I didn't say before it is a 66 coupe, and thanks for the help, just have too much money in to mess it up. |

![]() If you want that engine to make some real good H.P. with those heads, stay with the Performaer RPM intake, get the matching Performer RPM camshaft, put 1-5/8" long tube headers on it with a 2-1/2" dual exhaust with either a X or H pipe, and top it off with either a Edelbrock 750 Performer carb, or a vac secondary Holley 750 cfm or Street Demon 750 cfm carb. The World Product heads will take to the cam, manifold, exhaust and carb like there's no tomarrow. NO the 750 is NOT to big! It is all about getting as much air into the engine as possible. I could build the same engine and overfuel it with a 2 bbl carb. It is about jetting the 750 so that the air ging in is the right A/F ratio. If you dyno the engine with a 600 cfm carb and then re-dyno it with a properly set up 750 carb there WILL be about a 35-50 H.P. improvement! I have done this many times and it is amazing how well a 302 cid engine will take to the 750 cfm carb. Just ask Ron1, he has been there, done that.
If you are going to spend the money and time and effort on the heads, justify the expense by optimizing the heads and the rest of the package, you will be glad you did. Otherwise why put on the bigger heads, especially if you are going to choke them down with a Performer manifold and 600 cfm carb.

![]() Thanks for the reply, I have thought many times about that 750, but thought it was too much carb. I bought some headman headers the other day, and did decide to stay with the rpm. I also bought those rockers, and better rods. As my "play" money is about spent I will keep my carb another summer, but the pipes sound interesting since i am runnging that dual exhaust.

![]() Sounds good. The engine will run real good with the 600 cfm carb, it is just that when you get a 750 cfm carb on and dialed in you will be very impressed by how much harder the car runs. Good Luck with the project and let us know how it turns out.
