Post Rebuilding engine...

Hey,

Well, i have a 289 V8 with a holley 4b carb, and headers, Im planning a rebuild, its already starting to smoke. Well, i wanted to put some better that stock parts in it since i plan to do a little drag racing with it. What kind of engine setup would you guys recomend, im on a budget and would like to keep it at $1000 for now, things like intake, cam and other items i would like to put in after the rebuild, but please specify what you guys think is good and works together.

Thanks
