My 66 (like Rev's) had enough slack to pull the cluster out far enough to access the back. Do yourself a favor, though, and lay a towel or some other type of padding on the steering column to keep it from getting marred. I know this may seem obvious, but it only takes a second to scratch the paint which makes for a lot more work than changing light bulbs. Be wary when twisting the cluster side to side as well. Sometimes the wires can be brittle with age and will break very easily.
