Bad lower control arm
Rev - That is exactly right...the arm has the ball joint riveted onto it. When I put the stud onto the spindle it went down too far (in ,my opinion) and burst the boot. The other side did not do that and it went down about 1/4 inch less. I got both arms as a set new, so I figure I got a bad arm or a bad spindle. I have already ordered another arm with ball joint attached since it was relatively cheap. I had a sloppy feeling on the drivers side of the front end and some noise coming from that area...not sure what else it could have been since almost everything else is new. I will know as soon as I put the new arm on just by how far it goes down before it stops. I guess it is entirely possible that the spindle hole is worn too. I hope that is not the case, the disk brakes I am planning on getting use the existing drum brake spindles. I will let you know what I find out as soon as the part gets here...
