Default rocker arm studs ?

Quick qestion. Is it possible to put 7/16 rocker arm studs in 1966 289 heads? Is there a difference in thread size(the one that goes into the head)between the 3/8 and 7/16 ? Thanx in advance for any help you can give me.

I have a set of 7/16 rocker arms and would like to use them instead of paying another $200. So your saying the heads need to be retaped(what size)?
