rocker questions -- help?
i've got a 69 mustang with a stock 302 2v engine (that i recently upgraded to a 4v). i'm wondering if i can put roller rockers on it in place of the original stock rockers without any other modifications? do the stock 69 heads use the pedestal mounts? any advice here would be appreciated. thanks.

I'm pretty sure that on all Ford small blocks after 66 they used rail type rockers. The rails on the valve stems kept the rockers in alignment. Converting to roller rockers will require guide plates and hardened pushrods....as well as tapping out the heads for screw in rocker studs. It's a lot of work for so little gain.

You can use roller tip rockers from Comp Cams that use the "rail". I would recommend using poly locks to help keep the rocker adjustment. I tried using lock nuts on mine and they wouldn't hold the adjustment. These rail type roller tip rockers are good to at least 5500 rpm. This my redline right now so I'm sure of this.
