![]() I need help. I have a 65 fastback in need of restoration. I don't know where to start. When ordering parts do I get OEM or repro, or what. I have no idea what i am doing so I'll take any advice I can get. Do I pull everything to have it painted? I am not a gear head so bear with me, the only thing I am sure of is I love my ponygirl and want her to look and run brand new.

![]() First of all you need to evaluate what you want to do with the car. Daily driver, Total restore, or Restomod. This will have a large influence on picking OEM or repro parts, OEM are usually the better parts but alot of repros are quality made, you will have to evaluate this on a part by part basis.
You do not have to pull everything to have it painted but do you want the whole car painted? engine bay, undercarriage, etc. You also need to let us know what kind of shape the car is in, is it drivable, does it have any rust? As you can see alot of decisions to make, try to make a game plan on what you want to do first and go from there, a big mistake is to start too many projects at once! ------------------ 69 351W Sportsroof deluxe |

![]() Clark is right. Figuring out what you ultimately want to have when you are finished is important. The restoration on my 66 is being restored as a good daily driver. Initially I wanted a concours fully restored Stang but for me that is a little impractical. In the future I will probably go that route on anoher Stang,but for now a good daily driver will make me happy. Figuring out how much you want to drive your car when you are done might help you figure out your path. I love to drive my Mustangs so a daily driver restomod is a good choice. Learn as you go and have fun.

![]() Thanks for the replies. I will not be showing the car, but then again I will not drive it everyday, maybe once on weekends. There is rust on the quarter panels by the wheels and there is a hole in the floor. It is pretty good shape for a 35 year old car. Is there a way to post photos of it on this sight. I have a cheap digital camera and can show you some photos.
How do I find good repro parts, there seem to be millions out there? Thanks for all the help |

![]() i've got a 67 drive on weekends did same thing you got hole in floor ether small patch or replace floor panal. rust ? bodt putty or rear panal i have listing of parts places in kansas city you want them let me know

Go to the users rides section of this site and you can post images. As far as repro parts go, you usually can't go wrong with the major vendors. Mustangs Unlimited, California Mustang, NPD, etc. They all have websites where you can order their catalogs. No single vendor is going to carry every quality part you need at the right price. Get a bunch of the catalogs and shop around. It will pay to do so. Most vendors also have tech lines where you can get specifac info on the lines that they carry. Take care of the rust first even if its not going to be driven everyday. ![]() Rusted floor boards frequently indicates a leaky cowl, there is a pan under the vents in front of the windshield. This is an expensive repair. You might want to look for this as you make your plans for restoration.

![]() Take care of the rust first! This can run into major $$$$ if you don't fix this before it spreads. If your not a welder, try and find one for a friend
