The door should have the VIN and the options installed. The best way to find out what the option codes mean would be a search for a mustang VIN decoder. (I dont have the URL for the one I used anymore or I'd post it).
There should also be a number on the driver fenderwell, in the engine compartment, sorry, but I'm fuzzy on looking for engine block numbers too.
As far as I know, I think the rear end will only have the code for the installed rear gear/type differential. It should be on a small metal tab bolted to the rear end. (Sorry, cant be more specific , but I'm still learning myself)
