Default serial number tag

I have a 65 mustang that I need to get an out of state inspection done to put the title in my name. The problem is that its a project car and I cannot find a serial number anywhere, doors, dash are gone. Is there someone out there that will make replacement tags or am I barking up the wrong tree. This car is really worth keeping, good frame and quarters for a future drag car..Thanks for any ideas or help you can give...
