setting valve lash?

Hey guys, soon I will start my rebuilt 289 for the first time and I need to know how to properly set up the dist. timing (should it point at one o'clock position), valve (rocker) lash, everything!! Thanks.

You might go back and see 68 289 valve clicking, I think it was posted around June 27 it has alot of input on valve adjustment.Just make sure the cylinders are lubed enough especially if it has been sitting awhile and you can even turn the oil pump before you install the dist. to get some oil moving through the system.Make sure the rotor is pointing to the #1 when your at TDC and start it up and fine tune.

Thanks. Where can I get an oil pump primer rod for the SB ford?

Bought my oil pump primer from Jegs, and Summit has them too.
