Sheet metal
I have not yet placed a wall to protect against the gas tank. Do any of you know of a kit or do you just make your own. To explain I wish to cover the front of the truck so gas can not enter the passanger section of the car, If Im ever rear ended.

Just did that about a month ago on my 68 coupe. Purchased the "Fire Stopper" rear seat to trunk divider from Mustangs Unlimited for $79 (fairly expensive). It's either 16 or 18-guage steel (can't remember which) and real easy to install. Painted mine black and it sure beats my original felt.

I looked in Mustang unlimitted but could not find the Fire Stopper do you have the part number?

I think I've seen ads from Canadian Mustang for these at about $65 or so.

I've seen a '68 totally smashed from the back. No gas tank explosion. I wouldn't spend the money on one. How about putting an old asbestos celing back there? I bet you could get one cheap! Just joking on that one!

It's on page 114 of Mustangs Unlimited latest catalog. It's the "Fire Stopper" rear seat to trunk divider, 18 guage cold rolled steel, part # A169, $79.95. Says it comes gloss black, but actually arrived with grey primer. Yep, 9 out of 10 probably wouldn't explode in a rear-end collision, but for my wife and kids safety, I'll spend the extra cash.
