Default Shifting Problems

I'm looking at buying a '69, 302 modified, 4 speed, but there is one problem. Every time you try to shift it into gear it doesn't want to go you really have to put some elbow grease into it. It's in the shifter and the pedal is fine. So got any ideas, and how much it would cost to fix?

This could just be a simple case of the clutch needing to be adjusted. If it's only hard to get into 1 or 2 gears, then the problem could be in the shifter linkage or the transmission itself. If all the gears are difficult to shift, then I'd bet on the clutch linkage needing a few turns on it. 10 minutes under the car might cure the problem.
