i think you're talking about the harmonic balancer, has hash marks on it, used for timing the engine, etc.,.... well, you can remove it with a slide hammer,,...you screw in some bolts into the threads for the pulley and you pull on those bolts (ie with a slide hammer) to pull the balancer off the crank.
