Re: 302 vs. 289
I had to have the bottom of the bores notched at the machine shop for adequate clearance for the rods in my 289 block with the 302 crank. The 289 and 302 blocks are not identical from what I understand. It wasn't any big deal, but the notches were necessary to use the 289 block with the 302 crank.
