Re: Battery discharging while in storage
The only sure way to keep your battery somewhat charged in storage is to disconnect the cables.
When you do run it, you need to run it for more than 10 or 20 minutes to 'charge' the battery.
How old is the battery? What brand is it? Could be just at the end of its life... not running a car over a year or two for more than 10 minutes at a time will kill a battery a LOT faster than you think.
Have your battery tested. If it's good, and you want to store it, take the battery out of the vehicle. Store it somewhere dry and cool. Don't put it on the ground, especially not concrete or metal. Put it up on some wood blocks. Up off the ground and isolated from anything that can carry current.
You may just need a new battery.
