Has the flywheel been machined? Sometimes the weiner running the lathe can cut off way more than he is suppose to, causing just such a problem. If it is under spec. it can be either replaced (thats what i would do) or if you just wanna run it for a year or so you can shim the flywheel by putting a shim between the crankshaft and the flywheel. Dont know if I helped or not in your situation but, been there, done that, wrote the book LOL.
