If the pan is leaking, tightening the bolts probably won't do any good, nor will teflon. But, as long as you're there, why not pull the pan and change the filter? With the pan off, check it for straight edges (people tightening the bolts trying to stop leaks often bend the pan, causing the leaks to get worse), and correct as necessary. Install a new gasket and refill. Just don't over tighten the pan bolts!
