![]() Does anyone know the bolt circle diameter of the tri-y headers
that have a 3" collectors. I believe it is 3-3/4 but I am not sure. I am having a little bit of a problem finding them. Any part#s would be appreciated. i have 66 coupe with a 302 automatic if that helps. Also have edelbrock performer heads and Roller Rockers. |

![]() Are you trying to find gaskets for the collectors? I am not sure what the diamater of the bolt circle is? Heck, I am not even quite sure if I understand the question. Anyway, local auto parts store should have several different gasket sizes. I would get copper. If you are worried about size, trace the outside of the collector flange and take it with you? Did your headers come with some paper gaskets. I took the paper one to the parts store and got copper ones that matched.

![]() I use Tri-Y headers on my '66. It has 2 1/2" collectors and I just buy Ultra Seal gaskets by Mr. Gasket at AutoZone for about $3 a set. See if that doesn't work.

![]() Hey Rev
What are the specs on your motor. Is it 335 flywheel horsepower or Rear wheel. I am just getting ready to bolt on a set of edelbrock heads. Ported by Bennet Racing and Valve job and milling by Ed Curtis at FTI. I am hoping for about 350-360 Flywheel hp. I have a 78 302 bored.040 Crane Cam 290 ad dur/220@.050 485 lift cam. I have an 8' posi 3:55 gears. |

![]() My engine employs an original 289 block .030" over. with a 302 crank (turned .010/.010). TRW forged flat top pistons with stock rods (Pioneer aftermarket rod bolts). I use a Canton windage tray and crank scraper. I think that's about it for the short block.
TrickFlow TW heads are pocket ported and gasket matched, making about 9.5/1 CR. A CC 268 HE cam hydraulic flat tappet cam is used ( 218/218 @ .050) and uses 1.7 TrickFlow rockers making .485 valve lift. A 625 CFM Road Demon carb on a ported Edelbrock Performer intake is used to emphasize low end torque. Tri-Y Y headers (a la Shelby) are used with 2.5" custom exhaust with 3 chaamber Flowmasters. I did build a home made cold air induction system that does seem to help a little. My C-4 has a B&M shift kit and a TCI 2500 RPM stall converter. An 8" Currie 3.25 Traction-Lock rear puts the power down to the track with BFG street radials (235/15's). If I forgot anything, just ask. And, March under drive pulleys. Rev

![]() Nice setup. Were the tf heads a pain to set up.
Sounds like a sweet ride. I also have an 85gt 5speed which is stock except for headers, pulleys and exhaust (still have 4 cats). It is sort of weird, some of my friends like the sound of the 85(roller cam) and some prefer the hydraulic non-roller. I myself like the sound of the non-roller(66) cam because you can hear the engine more and can also hear the secondary's opening more than with the 85. Don't get me wrong I like the 85 also but I do not think it is the same. Depending on what mood I am in usually depends on what car I take. I am not talking power or anything, just sound of the engine. Sorry for rambling but my friends really do not understand. I let my friend drive the 66 one time and he went nuts, loved it and it was funny cause I had never let anyone drive it before and I heard it for the first time as a onlooker and when he got on it a little I almost s&*^t myself since it sounded so good. |

![]() I did take a week or so to install the heads. I did get an adjustable push rod (Lunatti/Summit) and did have weak valve springs put into the #1 cyl (machine shop) so as to check piston to valve clearance. (You need at least a dial indicator caliper for that). Actually everything went well except for minor glitches.
And of course you do need to have the correct valve springs reinstalled, and then reinstall the heads after all that checking. Rev
