Default max valve lift?

i was looking at compcams for a new camshaft for my car. i was wondering if anyone knows what max lift i could use without hitting the pistons. its stock pistons on 289 stroke with 302 heads stock head gasket. could i go .510 at 275 durationor do you think i would hit the piston.

heres what im looking at

1500-5500rpm high energy-hydraulic-good for daily driven performance vehicles.mid range power. slightly lower gears. mid rough idle

2000-6000rpm dual energy-high performance, high end power, works with stock converter, choppy idle.

1300-5600rpm xtreme energy-excellent ersponse,good mid rance,stock converter,3.23-4.10 gears.

what cam would you suggest. its a daily driver and power starts around 3000-4500 and then drops. i want the sound of a big cam. i like the rough idle. 3.55 gears and i keep the rpms above 2500 almost 90% of the time so low end torq is not really important. i have a slightly higher then stock converter.

what other cams would work with my setup??

i also plan on going to 3inch exhaust and new headman headers.

help me out here guys im stuck and dont want to get the wrong thing.

You should not have a problem with that lift. As long as you're running flat top pistons. Always do a clay test though just to be sure. Another thing you said the duration was 275. Was that advertised or duration at .050? 275* at .050 is one radical cam and is not streetable!

yes that was at .050. and i know its a big cam but the others that i wanted were less so i figured that if the biggest one cleared then the others will too.
