![]() Does anyone know of any place I can find some used original or NOS hood springs for a 68 coupe? I've looked at all the catalog companies I can think of to no avail. Like an idiot, I had the original ones when I started restoring the car but threw them away since they were covered with surface rust. Figured the new repro's were so cheap (believe I paid $6.50 a piece) I'd just order new ones. Big mistake - I've ordered different sets from Mustangs Unlimited, NPD, and Branda and none are strong enough to hold my hood up. I don't want to install a prop rod. Thanks for any tips.

![]() Hi did you try CJ pony parts? (1-800-888-6473) in addition to new parts they also have a salvage yard. Also if you are interested .. not sure if they would work or evn if they are available but i'm in contact with a guy that is parting out a 69 cougar coupe. lots of cougar & stang parts are interchangable . if interested in that I could ask about hood springs for you .

![]() Well I got lucky and found a pair of original used springs at Metro Mustang. If you've never ordered from them they sell repro parts and also have a giant salvage yard and are continually parting out stangs. They also informed they had similar problems with the repro springs not holding the hood up and now they only use original springs on the cars they restore. Thanks again for all the help.

![]() Often times repro parts represent the cheapest thing that Taiwanese manufacturors can get by with. Not always, but frequently.
