Lightbulb FYI (Rear Seat Fire Barrier)

By now most of you have either seen or heard about Lee Iacocca's appearance on the CBS TV show "60 Minutes 2". Also, most of you are as irritated with him as I am. I don't want to re-hash the details of that show but there is a positive side to everything.
One vendor, and probably more in the near future, has available a Rear Seat Barrier. It consists of an 18-gauge panel which fits in place of the cardboard that Ford used. Attaching hardware is included.
This sounds like a good safety feature to me. I plan to install one in my "66 soon.
Lou.

I watched the interview twice and initially I was also miffed but, what he actually said was that the original Mustang is over 30 years old so if safety is your main concern maybe you should buy a new car. Although I am far from reckless, I bought my Mustang because I like the way it looks, not for its safety record. By the way, any idea on the cost of the panel for the trunk? Thanx

Weyne,
The add I saw was from Canadian Mustang. The price was $69.90 including instructions, screws, and sealant. Perhaps many of us could fabricate one at a lesser price.
The plate goes behind the rear seat. This is to stop spilled gas in a rear end collision from entering the passenger compartment.

Exclamation

Hello, I also saw the 60 minute program, If I recal they did show a small sample of a retrofit for the fuel tank problem, and they not only wer installing sheetmetal to the rear seat, but also were installing sheetmetal to the pannel just above and behind the rear seat, (where the rear speakers would go.) I am interested in the retrofit you spoke of but I would like to know that it's as complete as can be.
Thank You for the information. Michael Hanson

Wink

A friend of mine (this is not an endorsement for The Paddock) just ordered one from the Paddock and said it had a great fit. I am sure after a while these will become cheaper. He paid $89 for his.

Jus' addin' to the pot...
