![]() I think it should be a concourse trailer queen or at a minimum, a #2 car. I'm not an expert here, but I'll bet there are some on this site.

![]() It should be very, very solid for 14K. I think there were a few more than that. The 390 in 69 was kinda the middle kid, not alot of attention. With the 428 available it kinda lost its luster. 67 and early 68 S mustangs gave you the "big block" option, but after the introduction on the CJ in late 68 the 390 became the "why?" option. By 69 it was definately passe. It made the least amount of sense of any engine option.

![]() If you have the bucks na dthe car is clean. The 390 Option is a good investment. Like every one said it was the why? Well it was just a few bucks more for the 428 so more folks opted for the bigger motor. That really leaves it this way, the 390 while being a smaller cube motor is in no way over shadowed by the 428. As a matter of course if I had the bucks, and was looking the 390 Car would be mine as long as all serial numbers and color codes matched. Of course the motor area should be straight and I would not hesitate to have it checked over by a professional, to make sure everything was in perfect order.
As you can tell I'm kind of fond of the 390 having owned a 67 GT with a 390 as a youngster. With a little cam work the 390 can be pretty impressive.. ------------------ 393,750 Holley,Pro Billet MSD,MSD 6AL,Xtr-Com cam,et streets, 3:55,Eagle Long rods 3000stall covertor,Airflow Research, Hooker long tubes 3" exhaust. ![]() Check it out real good.
5th digit should be an "S", Check for patch panels (from inside the trunk), original or aftermarket fenders (originals are date stamped on lip under hood, near the hood hinges), Look for rust in the floorboards, I would buy a decoder book first before spending that kind of cash on ANY muscle car. I like my "s" code '69 Mach 1, and I bet you wont regret buying that one, if its clean and not cobbled up! I would expect to be able to win some show trophys with it. Perhaps not perfect, but REAL nice. |
