Post What determines a "special" Mustang?

I have heard of certain code/type Mustangs being better or more desirable than others(besides the obvious reasons of Cobra,etc.). Is there any truth to this-if so what should I be aware of when I decide how to restore my Stang? I would hate to find out that I have ruined something unique after-the-fact. Ultimatly I know that it IS mine to do with as I wish, I just want to do my mustang justice.
If the vin# or I.D. plate info is needed let me know. THANKS
