![]() I just installed a new Currie 3rd member with TSD. Everything seems to work fine except that now there is a slight humming noise coming from the rear end. You only notice it when crusing at low RPMs. Is this normal?
I did add the Trac-lock/TSD additive along with the gear oil. |

![]() Hmmm...I never heard anything from mine. Then again, I'm about half deaf and have Flowmasters back there to boot. I can usually hear low pitch stuff though. Wonder about wheel bearings. Did you replace them when the axles were out? I do know that Currie stands behind their stuff 100%. But oh what a pain it would be to ship it back and do it again. If it's only slight, I would just try to ignore it.

![]() I like the ignore it advice. Its not really bad and it would not be pleasant to do this again.
I did't replace the wheel bearing, but this does not sound like a bearing. More of a transmission type whine. I think I'll just wait and see if it get worse. |

![]() Case solved on this one. I did some hard exceleration on the freeway. Stayed at about 80 mph (although who knows with the new gears) and the sound disappeared.
That brings up another question. How do I figure out the right transmission gear for my speedo cable? |

![]() Whew, glad that solved it. Although I know Currie is top notch, I guess there could always be an exception to that rule. The correct speedo gear for my car with 3.25 and 26" tires is one with 18.5 teeth, LOL. Take your pick from 18 or 19 gear teeth depending whether you want run about 1 1/2 mph above or below what the speedo says. I run the 19 tooth gear, so I'm going about 1 1/2 mph faster than the speedo says. Works for me.
