![]() lol.....What's wrong Rev?
I haven't really noticed an increase in profanity on this site. I'm not one to take it offensively either, though. I think some words are a little unacceptable at times, but nothing is that big of a deal. It's just a word. That's the way I look at it. But I'll do what's best for the site and comply with the rules. I'll be a good boy from now on! ![]() |

![]() Pony, I was groaning at the announcement that was made, not actual usage. Seems once a year there is a big "bruha" made about profanitiy or even "near misses" to what might be considered as such. Just chalk it up to a pet peeve of mine from the distant past regarding censorship on this board.

![]() Dan is probably refering to the blue oval posts in general. I agree with the rules except that sometimes Profanity is sometimes needed (In moderation) to express emotion. It's sometimes hard to express your intentions on the net. ie no face to put the words with.
IMO this site is alot cleaner than any site I frequent.

![]() What I advocate is honest, straight forward dialogue. I'm not too concerned with the exact dialect and word usage that might be used.
Some slang to me is acceptable. Hateful or derogetory language should not be tolerated. CENSORSHIP OF UPPER CASE TYPE should not be considered if other standards are met. These are my opinions and mine alone. Rev

![]() I agree. Sometimes u need to use powerful words. But unneedlesly used, is no good. I have typed plenty of words not good for the eye, but sometimes I "feel" that way, excpressing myself.

![]() I'm new here and if it's a yearly warning I can handle that. The other site I just left if you disagreed with the moderator or stated your opinion you pretty much got banned. Rather see a warning post then banning.
To Many Mustang II's to list

![]() I am not sure I understand how profanity in one of these threads could be "powerful". KNOWLEDGE is powerful. And how better to convey some of your knowledge than through the use of an acceptable and extensive vocabulary? Fortunately, the English language is chock full of truly powerful, expressive, provocative (don't make me get out the Thesaurus) words that do not breach anyone's definition of profanity. Don't get me wrong - I'm not a holy-roller or a goody-two-shoes. I am, however, a Dad to a thirteen year old son that also enjoys cars and follows by example. I do not have any problems with him, but I assure you he still needs good mentoring. Stretch your mind - pick up that Thesaurus - you just might learn something.

![]() kdog, I can sympathze. Some years ago,I was faced with the the same problem. Then it was local bullitan boards rather than the net, but it was still similar, only more local. Might have been even worse as we had strange people showing up at the front door that my 13 yr. old son had invited over.
What a 13 yr old might hear is ......what can I say?.....inevitable. You might want to review what is available in the classics. "Paradise Lost", "The Holy Bible", "Catcher in the Rye", and many other works. The Thesaurus is very helpful in finding similar words to be used in a paper. Not too useful in screening words for others to use. Many years later, my boys (men now) have heard all those words now and it's not hurt them as far as I can tell. TEACH YOUR'S VALUES AND LET THEM GO on to learn on their own. That's my advice. Rev
