Default Valve Body over a Shift Kit? Advantages

I can't afford a transbrake valve body right now, so I am trying to decide wether to buy a shift kit or a valve body. I want to retain the automatic qualities, so I am not after a full manual. Can anyone tell me the advantages of a valvebody over a shift kit at this point?

I'm running a C4.
