![]() So I picked these up over the weekend for $20. Two sets of main bodies and matching front meetering blocks for Holley 4barrels. They both look like 650's. They have smaller ventri and strait boosters. But one has annular boosters in the primaries. Thats why for $20, I thought I might have something here. The thing is I got them home and ran the numbers, I cant find these things in any data bases. The first has list-8828-1910 and a ford part number E0TE-9510-SA. The second has List-6945-0637 and Ford part number DSTE-9510-CB. Thanks

![]() L-8828 is 4180 that was used in 1980-81 Ford HD trucks w/ 429ci engine and a manual tranny. I don't know the cfm, but I suspect it's 600-650. It has 62 jets in the primaries, and a plate in the secondaries.
L-6945 is a 4150G (600 or 650cfm) that was used in 1975 Ford trucks w/ 361ci. It came with 64 jets in the primaries, and 70's in the secondaries. ![]() Take care, ~Chris

![]() hey thanks I was looking everywhere for that info. The L-6945 which is a 4150 main body I know I can use so it's not t total loss. I did some reading on the 4180 models. They are just modified 4160's. So in theory can I convert this 4180 to a 4150, using the same kit to do a 4160 to a 4150? I know I'll have to use the primary block that came with it. I have a few old 4150's I can salvage parts from. They'll probably bolt up. The only thing I'd see being a problem is that the 4180's had their idle mix set at the factory and it cant be adjusted. Would there be any benefit to running the annular boosters? As opposed to just a plain old 650/4150

![]() Annular boosters are cool, but not at the expense of a 4180. Don't even waste your time with it. The 4150 is worth working, though.

![]() Cool thats what I was going to do. Try to massage the 650/4150 to flow a little better. So should I just use the 4180 as a paper weight? I knwo Holley 4150's and 60's pretty well. But I dont know much about the rest. Is the 4180 a good carb, performance wise that is? Would it be worth hanging onto it to see if I can find the other parts to put it together?

![]() Yeah, I learned the hard was that those new (okay, this was ten years ago, so they're not really new anymore) "one gasket" Holley's suck eggs if you damage any part of it. I foolishly broke one of the corners on the throttle plate, which made the entire carb junk. There were less then 10 parts in it that could be used in another Holley. I needed an ashtray, and it looked like it would work, so with a little JB weld to fill the necessary holes, I had a new ashtray for the shop. It goes well with my mashed piston ashtray from when I grenaded my first 403.
![]() The stuff in that cabinet is strictly for parts, except for the 750 sitting on the top shelf, which I just rebuilt a few weeks ago. I've got another shelf of finished carbs, and a table full of carb parts I need to clean over by the parts washer. I like carbs. ![]() Take care, ~Chris
