![]() I just purchased a set of American Racing Torq-Thrust II for my 65. I know there are bunch of you guys out there that have these wheels, because it is the best looking wheels for a Classic Mustang. My question is, do these wheels have a protective clear-coat coating? What is the best way to clean and polish these wheels.
By the way, the sizes are 15x8 4.5 custom backspacing, with 235 60 15 BF Goodrich Radial TA's on the back. Fronts are 15x6 standard backspacing with 215 60 15. The wheels fit perfet to me, don't rub fenders, feels smooth and grab pretty good. They wheels looks nice bottom line. |

![]() It is good that you are happy with your investment! I checked the american racing web site and I could not determine if the rims you have are clear coated. They do have a FAQ on cleaning but you will have to e-mail them to find out how the rims are prepared.

![]() I have Torque Thrusts on my 68 FB. They are not clearcoated. I did mine when they were brand new just out of the box.
I cleaned them with Pre Clean O. They just ran a Scotch Brite over them ever so lightly. Cleaned again and shot them with clear Imron. That was about 12-13 years ago. They still look super. I let them harden for a week or so too. Dave |

![]() Thanks gentlemen for the response. I did contact American Racing Co. as Red suggested. I was impressed that American Racing responded quickly. They advised me that the Torq Trust II do not have clear coat coating. I also asked for ways to clean and maintain the rims. They suggested to use American Racing wheel sealer and polish , to maintain the original look.
