K, I just thought of something. When I first got my car the shifter would go all the way to the bottom like it's supposed to. Now, since I've replaced the engine, twice, it will only go one from the bottom.

			What's the deal??? BTW, it's a 1966 Coupe. Automatic.

My guess is that while swapping engines the shiftind Rod got out of adjust ment.. IM not to much on the old style shifters enough to tell you how to fix it. Just seems like a simpl fix to me.. maybe someone else can help ya

I've never heard of one of those before. The fist time the engine was replaced, I did it, and I noticed it wasn't working. The second time it was replaced, it still wasn't working after. I was kinda hoping it would magically fix it's self.

What were the three engine you had in there? That will help determine the cause of / remedy for your problem.

The 2nd was taken from a van. And the 3rd, I'm not sure. It was profesionally installed. All the stats are in the glove box, along w/ receipts. The car's in the shop till Thursday.

The shifter and the tranny just need to be synchronized. From under the vehicle, loosen the nut where the shift rod meets the shifter. Place the shifter inside the car in D. Next, grab the top of the shift lever that comes out of the side of the tranny (the other end of the shift rod you just loosened the nut on is attached to it). Firmly move the top of the shift lever that comes out of the tranny all the way back. Then, move it forward until it hits the first detent. Then move it forward to the second detent. Then go forward to the third detent. Make sure it's firmly in that detent. Verify the shifter inside the car is still in D. Now, tighten the nut you loosened before, where the shifter connects to the shift rod. Tighten it securely.

Now try moving the shifter through the gears. It should go through all of them. Take care, ~Chris
