![]() Unless you are trying to do an orginal restoration on the car I would scrap the majority of the vacume lines on that motor. Most of them probably run the EGR system and in my opinon that does more harm than good. The only lines you need are a vacume line to the dist. and a big line going to the PCV valve in the valve cover. The line going to the dist should be a timed vacume line from the carb (If you need help finding a timed vacume port just ask). You should also find the vacume line that runs the heater controls and hook it up so your heater and air will work properly. (If you have trouble finding it ask and I can look on my car to see where it comes through the firewall at)If you have power brakes you also need a line going to the brake booster. As for the eletrical crap it would be alot easier for you to ask specific questions than for me to go through what each wire goes to. If you get a Haynes(sp) manual it has a great wiring diagram in the back if you know how to read it. I hope I could help some and if you need any more help just ask.

![]() I have a 68 coupe with a 302. I have vacuum lines on my car running from the carb to the distributor, carb to the PCV on valve cover, and from back of engine block to transmission modulator valve (don't have power brakes). However, I don't have any type of vacuum hose running to my heater. Is this only for cars with A/C? If I'm supposed to have one could you please tell me where it's supposed to be. Thanks.

![]() Thanks for the directions. I' m not doing an original ( I removed the 351c because I was told the 302 pushed more horse) I am trying to get the car to run smoothly, period. The carb is a reman. motorcraft 2 barrel. I have a big plate under the carb with an outlet connected to the valve cover. The problem is the carb has 4 other ports on it. One line on the bottom of the carb is connected to the choke system right above it. Is that correct? The car also has a big canister with 2 ports on the fender well. Is that needed? there are 3 lines coming off a port in the back of the manifold are these the timed vacume lines you spoke of or should I just plug them. Lastly, I think the 302 is from the late 70's. Thanks again.

![]() The plate under the carb can stay it sounds like it is going to the PCV valve, you may want to check your PCV valve to be sure that it is working properly( shake it to see if the ball inside rattles if it does it is good). The line running to the choke is needed to run the choke system properly. The ports in the back of the mainfold are the ones you need to run the Heter controls, trans modulator. The canister on the fender well is part of the old egr system and is not needed. If the carb is a Motocraft 2100 carb or something similar to it the timed vacume port on it should be near the base in the front of the carb. I think it comes out of the carb at an angle rather than straight out. The way to teel a timed vacume port from a manifold vacume port is timed vacume ports will have very little or no vacume wheh the car is idling and it will increase with engine RPM's. Manifold vacume ports will have more vacume at idle. Once you get everything hooked up plug all the other vacume ports. If you have a vacume port that is not pluged the car will run like crap. I hope I could help feel free to ask more questions if needed.
