Default Small block Combo ??'s

Was thinking of possibly tryin to change up my combo for when the 306 goes into the Coupe. I currently am running a stock cam and ported 86 model heads.. I have fugiured out in no short time this motor is a dog... I am looking for a set of stock Explorer heads. ( I was told these were gt-40's) and looking at running an "X" cam. Have a Weiand Stealth intake that I plan on reusing. as well as a Holley 650 D.P. This is a street car mainly that will see occasional strip action and im not worried about gas mielage.. Only crusing nights mainly. Now is my combo close to ok. good, or just plain stupid in you guys opinions. Looking for any opinons.. Also plan on running equal length shortie headers, off road H or X and Flowmaster cat back.

Thanks alot
Bradley

It looks good to me. Are you open to any suggestions on other heads or are you dead set on the Gt-40's??

Id run a smaller cam than the X. Mill the GT40P heads as much as you can to get around 10:1 compression.

You say a smaller cam than the "X". I am open to any suggestions. Another Brand cam will be ok as well, Just found an x cam for 85 bucks.. so Im trying for as much power as possible with out going way outta budget.. ( typical right) Just dont wanna spend a fortune. Any good words about the trick flow cams? Cant afford a Custom grind now so I want something off the shelf.

Also have the oppurtunity to trade some parts for some late 70's 351 heads.. Which would be ok if ported correct?? Would I need new headers for those?

Thanks
Brad
