Default Transmission Type

My first question post..wahoo for me!

I've got a new-to-me 91 5.0 GT with an automatic transmission. Just wondering what its designation is, and if there are any known strengths or weaknesses/common problems with it. All I can say is that to my knowledge it's the stock tranny for the car, and if it means much, the shifter has low gear (1st), D, and OD.

Thanks guys.
