			 i put an 89 302 in my 66 mustang and i got a 8 quart front sump oil pan from milodon, i have a timing chain cover with a dip stick hole in it. could i just use the dip stick from the origional location on the side of the block or do i need a new one for the timing chain cover?

			 actually, you cant use the one on the later block... it's for a rear sump pan... you need to block it and use the one in the timing cover..

			 um... if you put it in the side.. is the front sump far enough back for it to even go on the oil? the pan in back is pretty shallow.. hate to have the dipstick hit the pan and curve up into the crank.. 
		
	
		
		
		
		
		
		
			when you get a dipstick, change the oil and filter... start it up... then let it sit for awhile the mark the full level yourself... easiest way to have it right ![]()

			 In blocks currently supplied with front sump pans, the dipstick tube nipple is located in the side of the pan and the side block location is plugged.  I conclude from this Ford engineers don't want you using the side block location with the front sump pan.
