some comments and questions.
hello every one-
first of all I just wanted to thank you guys for helping me with my rear end swap. I was really suprised that me and my dad got threw it all right since neather one of us has ever done something like that. and I owe it all to you guys. I am actually fealing like I am learning alot more about cars witch is one of the reasons I bought my mustang in such bad shap. and I just wanted to thank you guys. I really appreaciate your help. also I found A front bench seat for my 66 mustang and was just woundering just how rair these things are. and as always I have another question. what would be the best way to raise the rear of my mustang. I don't want to raise it alot just so that the back is A litle higher then the front. so that the front and back are almost even but the back like maybe and inch higher then the front. and how many inches all together would I have to rais the back. thanks again ford kid |

Even after you have a mustang as long as I have it is always good to talk and learn from others.
Yes, the front bench seat is rare and worth some money. But at the same time it is a personal preference, most like the bucket seats. The best way to raise the back of the mustang is new leaf springs. I know you can use shackles or air shocks, but the new springs are the best answer and run you about $130.

what do you mean new leaf springs. you mean like A new set with more springs on each side. or what.
well at least there is another way besides air shocks and shackle's cuz I think they look funny. yea I know it's A personal preferance and I all ready bought the seat I was just woundering if it is rare or if I just hadn't seen one yet. thanks ford kid |

Leaf springs
I got my leaf springs from Mustang Plus in Ca. I got the 5 leaf with mid eye option. they are fairly stiff and the mid eye raises the rear about an inch. I chose those because I have a more or less road race suspension. You can get regular eye (standard) or reverse eye that gives more (2"?) lift. The 4 or 4 1/2 leaf versions give a softer ride than my 5 leaf springs.

Rev I was just on mustangs plus website and if you look under the pictures and read the fine print it says that mid eye lowers the rear 1 inch and the revers eye lower the rear 1 and A half inches. so whats going on. did you mean to say it lowers it or is it just A miss print on the web site or what. I am confused.
thanks ford kid |

Fordkid,
The mustangs plus website is correct the mid or reverse eye will lower your car the height you stated, but remember that when they say this height, this is when the leaf springs are new. So chances are your springs are sagging like most due, so a new set of springs will raise the car alot compared to sagging springs. Unless you are going to drop the front with some lowering springs go with the standard eye 4 1/2 but if you plan on lowering the front go with the mid-eye and the 5 leaf's are a little too stiff for me.

That's right
That's right, I had things backwards once again. Old age? Hee,hee. Sorry for the mistake. I actually lowered the rear about an inch and lowered my front about 2 inches, so the rear is a little higher than the front. That's what screwed me up.

if you get new rear leafs, get them from Mustangs plus, I did i have the reverse eye which is the lowest, then I lowered another inch, then I got the 620 springs in front, also tubular upper control arms whih lowered it 3 in the fron, with my 1998 17 inch cobra rims and 275/40 tires, my car looks f'in awesome.....but it is very low to the ground, the down pipe from the driver side turbo scrapes sometime, but it looks good

Yeah i got my rear leafs form mustang plus too. I got the mid eye and it really lowered the rear end of my car. Now the front end sits up alot higher. It looks like crap. Oh well I Just need to cut the front springs and everything will be ok. Anyway mustang plus always has good stuff. They are a little expensive but i have never had any problems with quality of the products i have bought form them

JC Whitney sells lift springs for your car. They say it's about 3" over stock. Good price too. If it's too high, u can always lower the rear after u install the springs. I bought some from them for my '79. Good springs, a little stiff, but thats about it.
