Default How easy is it to change the speedometer cable?

My cable just melted on my exhaust and probably will have to be replace. How easy is it to change it out? I can see the tranny side but how do I get to the speedometer? Do I need to get into the dash? Any tips or tricks are greatly appreciated. TIA...

its been about 6 years....but if I remember right....you have to pull the cluster hat..then the cluster and the cable has some kind of lock fitting but I cant recall what it looked like. Thats all I can remember bud, but it could'nt be that bad because thats when I was 17 and my first mustang. Good luck!

Mine broke so I'll have to replace it. BTW, just I replaced my h-pipe and now one of the hangers is interfering with the connector of the speedo cable sort of bending it at an wierd angel. Has this happen to anyone else?

My speedo went kapoot. All I can tell yah is that the instrument cluster isnt too hard to take off, just go to town with a screwdriver, and dont yank anything too hard
