Question Speedometer cable

My cable makes noise while driving. I have the speedo out to get upgraded, can I lube the cable and how?

From what I've heard, you can lube the speedo cable - with what, I don't know. You may want to check with your local Ford dealer on what type of grease/lube to use.

Does your speedo bounce around? Mine does sometimes - I think after 11 years the grease starts to dry up maybe?

A whole new speedo cable from Ford will set you back only $44.

It just makes a nosie like it is dry. The speedo works fine. I just don't know how to lube it. $44 is not too bad. I need a new tranny speedo drive gear too, I just installed 3.73's. Maybe I will replace it.
Thanks

I recently replaced my speedometer cable for this very problem. It still bounces but doesn't make that noise. I think it may actually be the speedometer itself.
