Question 1977 460ci Engine

Hi all....
I'm looking at a 1977 460ci motor that came out of a lincon, and I need to know if that block is going to be worth building for a street-strip car. Someone else told me that the late 60's early 70's blocks were better. The price seems right, so if anyone can give me any info I would appreciate it.

Thanks

A 460 block is a good block to use on the strip, you can make it streetable, but it will be one powerful street block. depending on what you plan to do with the engine. new parts are coming out by holley and edlbrock for the 460. and to make it lighter new aluminum heads. but if you want a good street and strip engine and still have some money in your pockets get a 347 strocker block. it will be alot cheeper and pack a good punch.

while the early blocks are a little stronger, they both will handle 600HP. if you can get a set of the older 70-71 heads, they'll flow better than the later ones.. you can make some serious HP with a 460 for pretty cheap with 450-500HP and lots of torque..
the car wont handle as good, but it'll go...

BTW, I thought about a 347 for my 68 stang.. but decided on a 514 big block..

oh yeah, go here for tons of 460 tech
