Post gauge help

Well just out of the blue my fuel gauge and temperature gauge just went off the hook! They went way past normal. I have no idea what is wrong.. i supposed they are hoked up somehow but i am a mechanicals person not electronic.. i have a 67 (s-code) coupe gt but i cannot figure out what is wrong with the gauges any help is appreciated.

1967 mustang gt, coupe, dark moss green, black interior, s-code, 4 speed toploader ( only 1546 mustang gt,s-code,coupes with 4 speed toloader ever made in 67) ... Now it currently has a 302 (for daily driving, i am only 16) an edlebrock 600 cfm 4v carb - wanting dual quads - with a comp cam, pop up dome pistons, headers, msd electronic ignition. 3.00 with a ford 9" gears - wanting 3.50 posi gears. Recently accuaired a 390 from a 69/70 ford truck which is being moddified for some seriouse power

Sounds like the IVR [instr. voltage regulator] is bad. It is a small rectangle thing on the back of the inst. cluster that has two snap on it, like a 9 volt battery. Go get a new one and change it. That should fix you up.

thanx.. i will get one from johns for $16.95 surprisingly it isn't really expensive..

Wher is Refugio in relation to Houston. John's is ok if you don't mind doing business with a moron who can barely mumble english. I've taken my business to a guy in Katy, place called Mustang Mania 2813703302, he's a good guy and usually has better prices, can help to explain installation, and he is part of the hobby not just someone trying to make money off you.
