Still Cant Find Suitable Rubber for the Torque Thrust 2's

On my 67 Fastback I have 17x7 with 3 1/4 backspacing up front which I believe is stock backspacing and a Stainless Steel disc brake conversion. In the rear I have 17x8 with 3 3/4 backspcing. Now the cars been lowered 1" with Canadian Mustang parts which makes the front pretty low. I cant seem to find a tire that will fit the front. Im going with 245 45 vr17 in the rear and I think I need to run 225 35 vr17 in the front to clear the wheel arch when turning the wheel. I found one tire that would work but it was the wrong load capacity (the car was 500lbs to heavy for the tire) and the salesman was no help other than that. Im thinking of trying a 225 40 but I have doubts that it wont work. The maximum height the tire can be is about 23 1/2 inches tall. I know Ive asked before but is anyone running 17's with what is believed to be stock 3 1/4 backspacing up front, if so what tire are you running. Im open to all opinions. Ive already got the wheels so changing the backspacing isnt an option right now. Thanks everyone....Fastback Pony

I am running 17 x 7's with 4" BS all around on drum brakes. The tires are all Toyo Proxes 225/45 ZR17. I had some problem with tire rub up front the first 1/2hr until I got out the crow bar and gently massaged the inner lip of the fender. Since then all's well.

Try Tirerack.com You can search by size and then read the specs for the different tires. I am running 17x8 TT2's, 4 3/4 bs, Kumho ECSTA 712 tires (235/45 front, 245/45 rear). My car is lowered about 1 1/2" all around. I trimmed the rear lip, but not the front. I get no rub up front. You can see pics of mine at http://home.earthlink.net/~hjnsn/

We ended up buying BF Goodrich Scorchers. Scorchers have a stripe of color in the tread, we got red to match the car. They should look cool. Up front we got 215 40 zr17 and in back 245 45 zr17. The 215 40 was the only tire I could find that would work in the front. The tire search is finally over. Thank again for everyones help....Fastback Pony
